Marat Slessarev

Assistant Professor

Dr Marat Slessarev MD PhD FRCPC is co-Principal Investigator of the SAVE-ICU program. He is an adult intensivist at the London Health Sciences Centre, in London, Ontario, and an Assistant Professor and a clinician-scientists in the Department of Medicine, Western University. He completed his undergraduate (2003), MSc (2006) and MD (2010) at the University of Toronto, followed by residency in Internal Medicine (2013) at UofT and fellowship in Critical Care Medicine (2015) at Western University in London, Canada. He followed this with a PhD in Medical Biophysics (2021) focused on assessment of neurocognitive impairment during critical illness. Marat’s research is focused on innovation at the intersection of neurosciences, critical care and organ donation.He also works as a Regional Medical Lead for Donation with the Ontario Health – Trillium Gift of Life Network and co-leads Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program Theme 2 that aims to Inform Universal Practices for Donation.
